Update from Committee Week - April 2020The APEX Council is taking steps to improve membership retention and to recruit young people into the industry. A mentor’s checklist will encourage year-long communication between mentors and new members and so help to retain members. “Reach and Access” events will be hosted by major players in the industry and showcase the rewarding career opportunities that the industry has to offer. These events will target students at high schools, trade schools, and technical colleges, veterans, and people looking for a second career. APEX will work with SAIA Board and members to identify the target audience in the host’s area and to build a calendar of events throughout the year. Next steps include building a list of host companies and the itinerary. Companies and organizations interested in serving as hosts should contact the council chair or co-chair.
