The Scaffold & Access Industry Association's (SAIA) Competent Person Training for Frame Scaffolds is intended for workers who erect scaffold frames either professionally or as a medium to accomplish their work at heights. This class is divided into three components: self-study, in-class review, and hands-on installation of frames and testing.
After registering for the course, students will receive training modules for review at home. They should study the modules and complete the questions prior to attending the classroom portion of the training.
The first half of the one-day classroom session includes a review of the modules with an experienced instructor, who will explain or elaborate on the material as the students require. The second half includes a demonstration and practical component where students erect and dismantle a frame scaffold.
After the classroom theory and hands-on practical are completed, a written exam is administered. Students who pass this evaluation will receive a wallet card from the SAIA and Vertical Access Ltd. showing successful completion of the course. This training is valid for three years to keep students up-to-date on the most current legislation.
The learning objectives of the course are to ensure that students demonstrate an understanding of the following:
- Scaffold Foundations
- Scaffold Stabilization
- Guard Rail Requirements and Fall Protection
- Erection and Dismantling Procedures
- Regulations and Guidelines
$379 (plus GST per student)
The cost includes:
- all manuals and other instructional materials
- scaffolding equipment
- administration fees for the examination and training certification
