Take-off Estimator

Job Description/Position Overview: The Take-off Estimator plays a critical role in the scaffolding industry by accurately estimating the materials and labor required for scaffolding projects. This position involves analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to determine the scope and complexity of the project. The Take-off Estimator is responsible for producing comprehensive and precise material take-offs, ensuring that all necessary components are accounted for, and calculating the associated costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Analysis: Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope and requirements of the scaffolding project. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify any ambiguities and gather necessary information.

  • Material Take-off: Accurately quantify the materials required for each project based on the project's specifications, including scaffolding frames, braces, planks, connectors, safety equipment, and any additional components. Utilize specialized software tools or manual calculations to perform the take-off efficiently.

  • Labor Estimation: Calculate the labor hours required for the erection, dismantling, and modification of scaffolding structures. Consider factors such as project complexity, site conditions, and safety requirements in determining the labor estimates.

  • Documentation: Prepare detailed and accurate take-off reports and cost estimates for each project. Maintain organized records of all estimates, ensuring they are readily accessible for reference and future analysis.

  • Quality Assurance: Verify the accuracy of take-offs and cost estimates to minimize errors and discrepancies. Double-check quantities and calculations to ensure the reliability of the estimates.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest scaffolding techniques, materials, and industry trends to improve the accuracy and efficiency of take-off processes. Incorporate lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future estimations.

  • Collaborative Approach: Work closely with the project management, engineering, and procurement teams to address any concerns or changes in project requirements that may impact the estimates.
