Training & Education
The Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) offers training for both supported and suspended scaffolding through the SAIA University (SAIAU) Training Program. The SAIAU curriculum also includes training in User Hazard Awareness, Mast Climber Operator, Aerial Work Platform (AWP), and Journeyman Program.
SAIAU program courses are designed to educate workers on the safe practices of using, erecting, and dismantling scaffold and access equipment. Three categories of training are available:
Scaffold Hazard Awareness Training – developed for those workers who work on, but do not erect, scaffolds.
Scaffold Competent Person Training – created for those professional scaffolders who erect all forms of scaffolds in various configurations for others to use.
Course materials have been developed by experts within the scaffold and access industry. Courses are held throughout the United States and Canada and taught by SAIA members who have been approved by the Accredited Training Institutes (ATI) Committee.
Training courses are available throughout the year for both SAIA members and non-members. Students represent a diverse audience from those seeking to broaden their knowledge and skills to global companies requiring their workforce to be trainined and maintain certifications relevant to their job requirements.
The SAIA embraces an environment of learning through participation and facilitates the process through its committees, councils, regional meetings, Committee Week, and the Annual Convention.
More than 60,000 students have been trained since the SAIAU was established in 2012. Meanwhile, the reach of ATI continues to grow, with new training centers being added in Central and South America, Dubai, and Thailand.
